Biography

Qualification of PI Razhden Skhvitaridze’s, and compliance of his competence with the project are confirmed by the scientific researches conducted by him during 55-year activity, as well as by acquired practical experience. He is an author of 115 scientific and 7 newspaper publications, 3 textbooks/brochures, 56 patents; and 10 Grant projects. 3 candidate and 3 doctoral theses are defended based on the researches initiated by him.

In 1965-66 he took part in construction of peculiar “EHC” for Enguri HPP;

In 1972-82 his researches were reflected in GOST 10178 of the former USSR, in which the feasibility of using up to 5% of burnt alunite/anhydride as cement additive was confirmed;

In 1972-91 he participated in creation of “extra-rapid hardening alunite cement” along with K. Kutateladze, T. Gabadadze and I. Suladze, and rapid-hardening puzzolane Portland cement was made for the first time in world history (see USSR Patent  №632667: “Method for producing pozzolan Portland cement”. B.I # 42. 1978;

In 1982  along with T. Gabadadze he obtained an USSR patent №973498: „Method for obtaining an additive for pozzolan Portland cement”. B.I.#42.1982.These cements were manufactured under R. Skhvitaridze’s supervision in Kharkov cement plant (Ukraine) and in 1986 they were used during arrangement of “sarcophagus” for liquidation of Chernobyl HPP disaster results;

In 1998  a radiation pollution of Poti shipbuilding plant sea coast by Cs 137/133 was prevented thanks to special concrete prepared by R. Skhvitaridze, while in 2001-02it was used for entombment of atomic reactor at Mtskheta Institute of Physics;

In 1995-2008 in order to cope with mineral additives deficit in Georgia he developed the technologies for use of river crushed stone, zeolite tuff, blast-furnace dump slag and ferro-alloy slag in cement production;

Business relationship. In 19932005 five cement mini-plants were put into operation in Georgia upon his project and direct contribution that promoted business development in this area. Since 2000he worked as chief technologist in Azimut Ltd, Baden Ltd, GBG Ltd, and Eurocement Ltd, and starting with 2008 he is an advisor of Heidelberg Cement LLC.

Awards. In 2003 Georgian government awarded him with Order of Honour.

Qualification.Candidate thesis: „Alunite cements with active mineral additives, concretes based on them”,was defended in 1990and he was conferred with the degree of candidate of technical sciences, that from May 2005 is equaled to the degree of Doctor of engineering sciences according to the Law of Georgia.
